On May 1st, 2012, Osoyoos RCMP received a call that a cement wall at the Oasis RV Park had been freshly spray painted with Graffiti. Police made patrols of the area and no new graffiti was found. Photos of the yellow graffiti were taken by Police and should the culprit be identified charges of Mischief will be laid.
On May 2nd, 2012, Canada Border Services Agency located a prohibited driver at the Osoyoos Port of Entry. Police attended and the 21 year old male driver from Penticton was issued a violation ticket for no driver’s licence.
On May 4th, 2012, at 3:53 pm, an Osoyoos resident advised Police that his 5.4 meter Cougar Sunset power boat on a trailer was stolen from his residence on 8311 Kingfisher. The owner wasn’t home when the boat was stolen but a neighbor hearing a loud bang approximately 30 minutes earlier which was later determined to be from the suspects hitting a carport wall with the back end of the boat while hooking it up to their vehicle. Police made extensive patrols of the area and forwarded the boat and trailer description out to area Police to watch for the stolen boat. On May 6th, 2012, the boat and trailer were located abandoned in a orchard just to the North of Osoyoos off of Hwy 97. The boat was been fingerprinted in the hopes of identifying the suspects and has been returned to it’s owner.
On May 5th, 2012, RCMP responded to a report of a hit and run at the Osoyoos Pharmasave. The suspect vehicle license plate had been observed. Police attended at the scene and observed paint damage to the rear bumper of the complainants vehicle. Police contacted the 84 year old owner of the suspect vehicle who advised that she was nervous and left the scene. The driver attended back at the scene and admitting to hitting the vehicle and wishing to pay for the damages. No criminal charges were laid.
On May 5th, 2012, the Osoyoos Fire Department requested the assistance of Police for a report of an over turned sailboat with a male in the water. RCMP members attended and observed that it was a kite surfer in the lake who was not getting enough wind to sail. Police spoke to kite-surfer when he walked onto shore and found he was fine and wearing all the appropriate safety gear. The kite-surfer advised that he would be out on the water almost daily kite surfing and he appreciated that fact that he was checked on by the Fire Department and Police.
On May 6th, 2012, at 01:23 am Police were called to the Sage Pub to a report of 2 males who were refusing to leave the Pub. RCMP Officers attended and spoke with Sage Pub staff who advised that one male had been kicked out of the pub but returned. While being kicked out the second time the male threatened the bouncer. A description of the male was obtained and Police made patrols of the area. An intoxicated male matching the suspects description was located on the beach in front of the Sage. The 29 year old male from Oliver was arrested for Uttering Threats and being Intoxicated in Public. The male was held in Oliver RCMP cells over night and released sober in the morning without charges.
On May 6th, 2012, an RCMP member on patrol noted a 2002 Blue Ford Ranger where the Registered Owner was to be served a Driving Prohibition Notice. During the traffic stop the driver gave a false name to the officer. The officer determined the driver was being untruthful and placed him under arrest for Obstructing a Police Officer. The driver admitted to using his brother’s identity to avoid further motor vehicle infractions. With the 27 year old Driver from Burnaby, being positively identified he was issued a 4 Month Motor Vehicle Act Driving Prohibition and was released to appear in court to answer to the Section 129 Criminal Code of Canada, Obstruct Peace Officer charge.
