10/27/08 – Veteran news reader Campbell McCubbin has left his position with the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group in Vancouver, where he had been news director since 1996. Cam started his radio career as a DJ at CFAC Calgary in 1963, before moving to the news department at CKWX Vancouver in 1966. He was the bureau chief at Selkirk News in Ottawa from 1973-75 prior to returning to CKWX as news director, producing news programs for sister station CJAZ-FM and reading news at ‘WX until moving to CJJR-FM/600AM CKBD. He was granted the TV Week Magazine Viewer’s Choice Award for Best Radio Newscaster in 1988 & ’89, the only two years it was offered.
