Leah Schapansky
February 14, 1965 – April 14, 2012
Leah Christine Schapansky passed away April 14, 2012 at Penticton BC at the age of 47 years. Leah is survived by her dad, Abraham, brother David (Tammy) and sister Linda (Keith) and a whole bunch of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles that she loved very much. She was predeceased by her mom, Agatha in 2000. Leah was born a Valentines baby on February 14th, 1965 to Abraham and Agatha in Quesnel, BC where she loved campfires at their home on Bouchie Lake. The family moved to Oliver in 1975 where Leah spent much time at her parents family business, Oliver Nurseries and she could be seen running full speed through the orchards with her dogs, Lad; a hair-brained Irish Setter named Sheena and some baby geese that thought Leah was their mom. She attended SOSS in Oliver before she headed to BCIT and then Selkirk College where she completed her diploma in Wildlife Management. Leah worked in parks and recreation, doing contract work studying burrowing owls and bat habitat in the South Okanagan. She was forever brimming with facts about local flowers and wildlife. Leah loved her family and friends deeply (and her cat, Oreo) and was always excited when when we could gather together at Christmas or at the cabin at Jolly Lake. These outings meant the world to her- she was loved by all. A private family gathering was held Thursday, April 19. Arrangements entrusted to Nunes-Pottinger Funeral Service & Crematorium
