COMES TO PENTICTON
The Okanagan Basin Water Board (OBWB) and the South Okanagan Similkameen Conservation Program have teamed up to present Brock Dolman, a renowned wildlife biologist and permaculturist, for a special public event in Penticton.
Dolman is the Director of Occidental Arts and Ecology Center’s WATER Institute, in Sonoma County, Calif. He has spent many years working in watershed restoration and as a water-harvesting designer and educator. He has presented at numerous international conferences, including Bioneers and SolFest and has been featured in a number of award-winning films, including The 11th Hour by Leonardo DiCaprio.
Dolman will be presenting “Slow it, Spread it, Sink it! – Using our Okanagan Rain as a Resource,” as part of the Okanagan WaterWise Speaker Series on April 23, 7 p.m. at Okanagan College’s Penticton campus in Lecture Theatre PL 127. Admission is by donation. The presentation is intended to work in concert with the recent publication of the OBWB-Okanagan WaterWise homeowner’s guide of the same name.
“We’re very excited to bring Brock to a broad public audience,” noted Corinne Jackson, OBWB’s Communications Director and in charge of the Water Board’s Okanagan WaterWise public outreach program. “Brock has a way of relating water issues in a very folksy and inspiring way, while offering practical and simple solutions. We knew if we had an opportunity to being him back to the Okanagan that we wanted to invite the public to hear him.”
