The British Columbia Ambassador Program is an annual event that takes place in August. This program is open to any young man or woman age 17 to 23, who has previously held an Ambassador/Royal title in British Columbia. Each year, three members are chosen to represent the youth of our province. As part of their duties, they travel throughout the province promoting our mandate of Education, Motivation, and Self-Esteem.
The mandate of the program is to: Nurture provincial leaders of the future. Promote and assist with the expenses of post-secondary education. Forge links of friendship and understanding throughout BC communities.
I will be judged on:
1. General knowledge of British Columbia (including current events)
2. Personal interviews with the Judges
3. Public Speaking (personal choice speech, community speech, and impromptu question)
4. Presentation Skills (community table, speech and personal presentation-interview)
5. Talent
There will also be awards that will not be put into account for the Ambassador title such as:
-promotion award
-fundraising award
-friendship award
-sponsorship award
What you can do:
Watch out for my promotions around town including:
-my Facebook page. “Juliana Martine for B.C. Ambassador 2012” like, share, and keep in touch with my campaign ( the more people who like it, the greater chance of me winning the promotion award)
-I will be planning a couple of fundraising events in which people can come out andsupport me while getting a chance to ask me and see what it’s all about.
-soon I will have coin jars at local businesses in which you can drop a donation, all of which will be going towards scholarships from the program. The person who raises the most funds will actually receive half their earnings as a bursary (fundraising award). Iwill also be starting a water bottle campaign in which I will be selling promotional water bottles.
-Order a T-Shirt. You can place an order for a T-shirt(which won’t arrive until after the pageant in August) and in doing so, you become a “sponsor” and your name will be put in the pageant program under a thank you to the sponsors. If I sell the most T-shirts, I can win the sponsorship award and bursary
-Vote! Beginning at the end of April, the “People’s Choice” polls will go up in which you can vote once a day for me to win the people’s choice award and bursary
When it is: The pageant is held on August 17th and 18th this year and it has always been held in Merritt, B.C. There are 14 candidates in total this year from all over B.C. and we are all very excited to be taking part in the program.
I will have tickets available to order and if anybody would like to know more they can always visit www.bcambassador.com for more info as well as my Facebook page.
