On March 17, 2012 at 12:05AM, Oliver RCMP were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision on Hwy 97, near Enterprise Way, in Oliver. A passer-by called 911 after she observed a Blue 2007 Ford Mustang in the middle of the road with both it’s tires blown out. The lone female occupant was observed out of the vehicle, but was not observed driving. Officers determined that the female driver, and sole occupant, a 60 year old Oliver resident, did not see the beginning of the median, and subsequently hit it causing both the front and rear driver’s side tires to blow out. Officers spoke with the driver, who was slurring her words. An ASD demand was made and the female provided a sample, resulting in a “Fail” reading on the roadside screening device. The driver was issued with a 24 hour driving suspension and her driver’s licence was seized. There were no reported injuries.

The driver of the Ford F-150, a 29 year old Vancouver resident, and his two passengers were not injured in the incident. The 51 year old, West Kelowna resident, driving the Vibe also was not injured. The Vibe received significant damage to the driver side front end, and was not drive-able. The F-150 received damage to the rear driver side quarter panels. Considering the poor weather conditions, no violation ticket was issued.
