EARTH HOUR – MARCH 31, 2012 8:30 – 9:30 p.m.

The Oliver Senior Center is proud to be trying to reduce the amount of electricity used on what is commonly called EARTH HOUR on March 30, 2012.

FortisBC is, once again, sponsoring an EARTH HOUR Community Challenge and to this end, the Oliver Senior Center is asking all residents in Oliver, both within the town as well as in the regional district, to pledge to turn off all non-essential appliance and electronics on March 31, 2012 – between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m.  To make this pledge you may telephone 1-866-436-7847 or email www.fortisbc.com/earthhour and provide the information that is asked.  Not only are you helping the environment, but your name will be entered in a draw for a weekend getaway at Manteo Resort in Kelowna.  These individual pledges will increase our community’s chance to win a $5000 energy savings upgrade for a non profit organization and the Oliver Senior Center is the organization in Oliver that has taken the challenge.

The Community with the highest per capita participation will win the Earth Hour Challenge so please take a few minutes and make the pledge as soon as possible.  It is a win, win, win scenario for all the residents in Oliver.
