Students at Southern Okanagan Secondary School are working to put together this year’s student yearbook, and in conjunction are launching a new local business promotion program called the Oliver Business Coupon Supplement.

In order to offset the cost of the yearbooks to students, and to promote more yearbook sales (which in turn lowers production costs), the yearbook committee now plans to include a free Oliver/OK Falls Business Coupon Supplement with each yearbook sold.

This insert of detachable coupons will not only offer students, parents and relatives a reminder of what Oliver and OK Falls businesses have to offer, but it will provide community members an incentive to shop locally, spurring them to more strongly support our community’s businesses in the future. The offer is limited to Oliver and OK Falls businesses only.

For a cost of only $30 (which will offset some of the production costs), each participating business will agree to offer some sort of a nominal discount to the coupon holder. This could be a “buy one, get one free” offer, a “buy one, get one half price” offer, a basic percentage reduction, or any other offer a business sees fit. To include a business ad, without the coupon, the cost will be $40.

The yearbook team will be responsible for designing and printing the coupons, which will then be distributed with as many as 250 student yearbooks.

We are excited to launch this program that will increase the exposure of local business and will actually bring customers through your doors – all while helping to make the yearbooks a bit more affordable for our high school students and their families.

The yearbook team – students from the high school-  have already visited some business in Oliver with success and will be calling and visiting your business in the near future to round up more  program participants. We sincerely hope you will consider taking part in this program.
