Irrigation turn on – the canal water will be diverted from Okanagan River at McIntrye Bluff – Monday April 2 and the irrigation start up date for farmersĀ is Thursday April 12.
Solar heating for new homes – the Town will not join this program at this time. Several house builders appealed to council saying that the extra cost of requiring this in new homes would impact purchases. Council opted to wait for provincial legislation. The program called for all new construction to include provision for solar heating even if the first owner/builder was not contemplating that feature.
Large scale soil removal – the town will not enact a bylaw on soil removal at this time. Staff had recommended a number of provisions including a fee structure and permit for the large scale removal of soil within the municipality. Council considered the move to be a disincentive to business.
National Park – council was asked to support the national park but will instead ask the provincial government to release the results of its feasibility study into the issue.
Hotel Study – this question will be discussed further before proceeding. The amount of money involved, who will do the study and when is still up in the air.
