Please be advised that the British Columbia Teachers’ Federation has announced that its members will be withdrawing their services for three days commencing Monday, March 5, 2012. As a result, teachers will not be reporting for duty on the following days:

Monday, March 5, 2012
Tuesday, March 6, 2012
Wednesday, March 7, 2012

While school facilities will remain open under the supervision of school district staff, we will be unable to provide students with instruction or appropriate supervision during this full strike. We are therefore requesting that parents keep their children home on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (March 5, 6, and 7). There will be no bus service on these days.

StrongStart programs, early learning programs and evening programs that utilize school facilities should not be disrupted.

It is the sincere hope of the Board of Education for School District No. 53 that this dispute will be concluded quickly and that normal school operations will resume as quickly as possible. In the meantime, we will do our utmost to keep you informed in a timely manner over the next week. Further information will be provided through the district website at www.sd53.bc.ca
