On February 16, 2012 Oliver RCMP attended to a two vehicle motor vehicle incident at the intersection of Hwy 97 and 346th Avenue. An 18 year old Oliver driver failed to stop the 2011 Dodge PU she was driving, due to road conditions (icy) and collided with the rear end of a vehicle driven by a 35 year old Oliver resident who was operating a 2003 Land Rover. A passenger in the Land Rover sustained minor non-life threatening injuries.
On February 19, 2012, an Oliver resident located that while walking along the Hike & Bike trail he located a pressure washer in the bushes. Anyone who is missing a similar item is invited to contact the Oliver Detachment to recover their property. Proof of ownership at some level will be required.
The Oliver Detachment has joined with the Oliver Mayor in conducting weekly walk-a-bouts in the Oliver downtown core. As time and schedules permit, this process will continue and is an effort to allow both offices to be more accessible to the public. During the walk last week three local business owners reported that they had experienced some minor criminal activity around their businesses which they chose not to report to the police. The representation was that they felt the police were too busy and that they did not want to be a bother. Although support of these business owners is most appreciated, both Mayor Hovanes and Sgt Harrington wish to assure the public that the police are interested in any Criminal Activity and that we would appreciate receiving your reports. A Crime Analyst working out of Penticton on behalf of the South Okanagan & Similkameen Regional Detachment may be able to link you minor complaint with something larger and this has an advantage for the entire Community.
