On February 9, 2012 Oliver RCMP responded to a theft complaint in the 39000 Block 97th St. The property owner confirmed that sometime overnight, someone walked onto his property and stole gas from one of his orchard pruning machines. The machine was parked in a small shed adjacent to his property. Also taken was a Stihl chainsaw, approx 2 years old. The owners BC Driver’s Licence # was etched into the filter area of the chainsaw. Shoe prints in area look to be from a sneaker with a web/waffle design.
On February 9, 2012 Oliver RCMP received a hit and run report of an event that occurred in the parking lot of South Okanagan General Hospital. A witness represented that an elderly female driving a grey newer model Mercedes drove vehicle into his trailer hitch and then fled the scene after he asked her to stop.
On February 10, 2012 at approximately 20:17 Hours a 31 year old Kelowna resident reported that while he was driving to Mt. Baldy ski hill his black Toyota 4 Runner hit a soft shoulder causing the vehicle to go off road right and roll into the ditch. No injuries were sustained as a result of this crash and other then the damage to the vehicle no other damage is reported. Road conditions and speed relative to conditions were factors in this crash.
On February 11, 2012 the RCMP responded to a report that two large transformers were dumped beside the pump house on River Road in Oliver. Fortis BC attended the scene and will look after the cleanup and removal. Aside from the illegal dumping practice the potential for this to be an environmental concern exists because of the location relative to a salmon bearing waterway and local orchards and vineyards.
On February 12, 2012 at approximately 00:51 Hours Oliver RCMP responded to a single vehicle accident in the area of the 33600 Block of 97th Street in which a pickup truck struck a power pole causing the power lines to spark. Attendance confirmed that a Blue 2008 Dodge pickup being driven by an 18 year old Oliver resident went off road and ran into the power pole. The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries but was transported to South Okanagan General Hospital for a full assessment. The driver advised that he had fallen asleep prior to going off the road. A charge under the Motor Vehicle Act was issued. Alcohol was not a consideration in this crash.
On February 12, 2012 the Oliver RCMP responded to the report of a break and enter at Okanagan Car Wash located 5896 Main Street, Oliver. Entry was gained by smashing the front glass door and once inside the suspect(s) stole small display type merchandise.
