I think reporters and news outlets in Oliver have a tremendous relationship with the RCMP.
I know that RCMP officers living in our town are great people doing a tough job.
Recently the editor of the local newspaper and I sat down with Sgt. Ken Harrington for coffee and we engaged in a wonderful discussion on how we interact and the benefits to both institutions. It was a great sign of respect.
That relationship will remain. Thanks to all members of the RCMP living and working in Oliver for your contribution to our community.

I had to work today and did receive e-mails as well on the “gone viral” Osoyoos story. I read about it in the middle of the night and penned my version of how I think in “a bit of rant”. Jeannine has pointed out exactly what is a rant and my comment were not that so the headline changed to “Point taken” to reinforce that thought.
I will stick to my guns, though, as to saying this story is not for my blog. My mini -“rant” was about the good relations I and the Chronicle have with local police and I intend to keep it that way.
Update: I owe a sincere and heartfelt apology to Cpl. Ryan S. McLeod of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for comments that appeared in the Wednesday, Feb. 8 edition of the Osoyoos Times.
