I was on my way home southbound and arrived a few minutes before they closed the highway and parked south of the bridge, no ambulance and the tow cables were already attached to the SUV in the water. I asked an RCMP officer when the accident happened and he said overnight, that is all I know, I presume this was just a recovery operation to remove the vehicle from the water, the tow truck was from Penticton. No one else I spoke to seemed to know when or what had happened or if there were any injuries.
Time of accident: Overnight Saturday morning – car hauled out after noon same day
Location: Near McAlpine Bridge, 3 miles north of Oliver
Vehicles involved: May have involved only one. Appears to have rolled several times and landed in the Okanagan River
Injuries: Not known
Highway traffic diverted for some time to hoist the car out of the water.
