At approx. 17:39 on January 24, 2012 Oliver RCMP responded to a single vehicle rollover MVI near Hwy 97 and Rd. 20 in Oliver. Attendance confirmed that a 1988 Camper driven by a 90 year old Osoyoos resident had gone off road left and collided with fence posts and vineyard row and had rolled onto the passenger side. Both the driver and the passenger received minor injuries and were cleared at scene by EHS. Weather appeared to be the most significant factor in this crash.
At approx. 07:55 on January 25th Oliver RCMP were called to a single motor vehichle incident on Hwy 97 near Rd 18. Investigation confirmed that the 29 year old Osoyoos resident was traveling south bound and on rounding the corner hit black ice and lost control of her 2002 Honda Accord. The vehicle spun 180 degrees and rolled backwards and down a small embankment into an orchard on the East side of the road. There was minimal damage to the vehicle and the driver did not sustain any injuries. There was damage to an orchard tree and possibly some sprinklers. Weather related speed and road conditions appeared to be a factor in this crash.
There were a couple other accidents on the morning of January 25th. No injuries and related to the black ice. The traveling public needs to be cognizant of ever-changing road conditions.
