The Hornets drove through -17C and 50km head winds to play their 3rd league game. A win would solidify first place in league play, home court in the play offs and a much needed bye in the Zone Championships.
The Rockets were waiting for them and had other plans. The girls found themselves down 37-21, even at one stage as much as 22. By the end of the third the Hornets trailed 47-29. In the 4th it came in 3-0, 5-2 and 9-0 runs in which the Hornets were re-ignited and continued to sting and push with minutes left, back and forth with 1 point leads.
Tied at 54 with seconds left, a quick steal, a solid defensive stand and the final score ended —— 58-57 for the “South Okanagan never die Hornets”, had the girls jumping in elation .
Ashley McGinnis 23 , Navi Mann 16 and Emily Jentsch with 13 rebounds.
The reward – a solid week of exams, then action picks up again with a tourney in Princeton, Jan 27/28. Where the girls dearly want to meet the Rebels again!
