On January 8, 2012, RCMP were called to attend motor vehicle a collision 10 km north of Oliver, BC on Hwy 97. On arrival a 2004 Grey Nissan Titan pulling a travel trailer was observed to have gone off road right. The driver of the vehicle, a 38 year old Penticton resident, advised that he had fallen asleep at the wheel. Minor non life threatening injuries were sustained by the lone occupant. Neither Alcohol nor speed were determining factors in this crash.
On January 10, 2012 a 78 year old Oliver resident, residing in the 9900 Block of 348th Avenue reported damage to her scooter while it was parked at her residence. The damage occurred while the owner was out of town and there are no suspects or witnesses.
On January 12, 2012 RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle MVI, located just north of Rd 21 on Hwy 97. The complainant reported that he was traveling southbound on Hwy 97, near Rd 21 when a white truck in front of him crossed the center line, hit the concrete barrier and then continued in the left hand side of the road until it went down into the ditch. RCMP attended and spoke to the driver, a 21 year old Osoyoos resident, who initially advised that she didn’t know what happened. Suspicions are that the driver was on a cell phone at the time of the accident however, a charge for Fail to Keep Right under the Motor Vehicle Act was issued.
On January 14, 2012 at approximately 14:10 hrs, Oliver RCMP received a report of a vehicle that went off road left into a ditch on Hwy 97, between Gallagher Lake and Tuc-El-Nuit Rd. Heavy snow and inadequate tires appear to be the mitigating factors in this event. Minor and non life threatening injuries were sustained by the 66 year old Oliver resident and her three adult passengers.
