On the weekend – curlers from the Thompson/Okanagan Regions 3, 4, & 7 arrived in Oliver to compete for a birth in the Senior Provincial Championships set to happen in Kelowna February 14 – 19.
Entries for the women’s side were down significantly this year with only two teams participating. Team Jenkins of Salmon Arm defeated team Heath of Summerland two straight games on Saturday to claim their spot at the provincials.
The men’s side of the action had four teams entered as follows: team Boone of Kamloops; team Ewan of Vernon; and teams Gelowitz and Koffski, both of Kelowna.
Team Koffski defeated team Boone and Gelowitz on Saturday. Sunday morning, the two Kelowna teams met again with Team Koffski defeating Gelowitz a second time to claim the birth in the Senior Men’s Provincial Championships.
Congratulations to the winners and good luck at Provincials. The winners at provincials will represent BC at the national championships March 17 – 25 in Abbotsford.
