After 15 years as School District #53 Chair, June Harrington has stepped down and a new person will lead the District. Harrington first become chair after Bill Barisoff was elected as the local Liberal MLA in 1996. Barisoff had been chairman of the school board for 8 years.
Marieze Tarr of Osoyoos was selected Wednesday by her peers with no opposition. Same goes for Vice-Chair Sam Hancheroff of Okanagan Falls.
At the inaugural meeting of the Board of Trustees, Rob Zandee of Oliver was selected as the District’s representative to the BC Public School Employers’ Association (BCPSEA) and June Harrington of Osoyoos chosen to be the representative of the District at the provincial trustees association (BCSTA).
