While school trustees met inside, local representatives of the teachers union demonstrated outside the District Offices on Okanagan Street in Oliver.

South Okanagan Similkameen Teachers’ Union Ron Rachinski shown above told the board that negotiations would be settled quicker if the employer’s demands for concessions were taken off the table including the erosion of seniority rights. Trustees told Rachinski to mail them all the details of the negotiating positions as they were quite removed from the provincial negotiating table.
