Over 700 NDP members gathered in Vancouver this past weekend to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the New Democratic Party at their convention. Highlights included a keynote from Van Jones, former
Obama advisor and social entrepreneur, an address by Adrian Dix, the
leader of the opposition, as well as a speech by Glen Clark.
Specifically relating to the Okanagan Similkameen was a resolution pertaining to improving and promoting food security. The resolution resolved, “… that the BC NDP support BC’s local agricultural industry by reinstating Buy BC and developing a long term food security plan, including the review of policies and programs, like the meat inspection regulations, to ensure they support local production and local markets.”
Adrian Dix and his team reinforced their plan to address the economy, bring sustainability, and ensure equality for the people of British Columbia.
