Since the SOSS fire of September 12th there has been one problem that needed fixing and that will happen next Thursday at the RDOS table in Penticton.
Voters in rural Oliver and in the Town had voted for 3.8 million dollars to improve the existing Frank Venables Auditorium. After its destruction – the legal beagles stated that the wording of the bylaws to allow the funding had to change. The wording will be altered from “capital cost for upgrading” to the words of “construction of”.
Next Thursday, newly elected Directors of the Regional District Okanagan Similkameen will discuss and pass a new bylaw allowing the remaining authorized funds to be granted to School District #53 to help pay for a new Frank Venables Auditorium.
The School District is expected to unveil plans for the new school complete with auditorium in the near future.
