A public hearing at Oliver Town Council heard many speakers (15) and most supported the owner of 14 lots in the Industrial Area who wanted to sell land to a gravel crushing operation/ portable asphalt plant.
( Land in question is owned by Chris Jentsch but 50 lots in the industrial zone are affected and many other owners concerned. )
Bylaw 1307, if passed would have amended the Zoning Bylaw to exclude those business operations.
At the conclusion of the Public Hearing – Council abandoned the bylaw prior to third reading and said it would be up to the new council to make any further changes to the Zoning Bylaw which is currently under review by Urban Systems.
The present Zoning Bylaw is 18 years old and needs to be brought up to date.
