I saw The Wild Guys in Osoyoos Saturday night. Great show and great performances by the 4 local actors. If you haven’t got a ticket yet for the Oliver performances yet, make sure you do. You won’t be sorry.

Each night, when the curtains opened, there were many appreciative murmurs from the audience on the loveliness of the set: a realistic painted backdrop by Brian Mapplebeck depicting a northern Alberta forest and set pieces such as treestumps, boulders, and a glowing campfire designed by Grant Bott to set the woodland scene. Combined with artistic lighting that conveyed filtered forest light and moonlit woods, and sound effects that captured forest noises such as birds, insects, water, and wind, it was a full sensory experience.
We had lots of laughter from the audience. They got a kick out of the “Canadianisms” and current cultural references. Both men and women enjoyed the “guy” humour: e.g. the characters’ frustrations with male stereotypes in general, their frustrations with one another and their differing ways of being “a guy”. There were a few surprises in the show (not to be given away here) which got some big gasps, and some hilarious one-liners and visual humour that got loud laughs.
While there are a couple of moments of drama and pathos, the overall tone of the show is light and fun — both for guys and the gals who love ’em. The price of the ticket includes free concession.
