Town works crew did a quick job of replacing a fire hydrant on 99th Street (Kootenay) at 364th. It would appear that a truck and trailer knocked it over in the middle of the night and all the water from a large pipe flowed down the hill to the highway bringing much dirt, gravel and debris with it.
Crews had to be called out to shut off the tap, put up warning signs etc. How much will something like this cost? The picture indicates that paving is in order.
Was the innocent culprit found?

An Oliver resident called the RCMP to report a hit and run accident at the intersection of 364th Ave and 99th Street in Oliver. Police attended and confirmed that a fire hydrant had been knocked over. Tire tracks in the snow indicate a transport truck and trailer attempted to turn around and hit the fire hydrant breaking it off. Water ran down 364th onto Hwy 97 turning into ice. RCMP officers are interested in speaking with the driver of the vehicle or witnesses to this incident.
