In a rare move, two councillors-elect Maureen Doerr and David Mattes along with Mayor-elect Ron Hovanes joined with current Town of Oliver council to debate the merits or cutting spending from a provisional general budget.
2011 budget was 2.175 Million dollars and staff were told to hold the line at a 2% CPI increase and eliminate enough capital spending to make that possible. All 8 people around the table with management staff trimmed various budget lines in categories of public works, roads and fire department. Staff will give the new council another turn at it in December.
