On 2011-11-16 at 12:28 – an Oliver resident called the RCMP to report the theft of his $1200 Rock Hopper Mountain bike. The owner reported that the bike was stolen the previous night between 21:00 and 02:00. The bike was left outside Murphy’s Pub without being locked up.
On 2011-11-16- the RCMP received a call reporting that a seasonal residence located in the 37000 Block of 71st Street had been broken into. All the cupboards had been gone through and at this point the owners are missing a television and several framed pictures. It appears that entry was gained through an unlocked window. A neighbor had noticed a black pick up at the residence drive on Saturday evening.
On 2011-11-18 – a representative of Moresby Fuels called the police to report that unknown person(s) snipped the chain link fence and entered onto the yard site of Moresby Fuels Ltd and stole numerous fuel parts including cam locks and pumping gear.
On 2011-11-18 – an Oliver resident called the RCMP to report
the overnight theft from the insecure box of his pickup truck which was parked in the 36000 Block of 75th Street. The victim reported that the following items were stolen: 4 summer tires and rims, valued $1200. One small gas powered chain saw, value $450, one cone pump used for gravel crushing, light blue and grey in color, value $5000.
On 2011-11-18 at 22:46 – a 60 year old Osoyoos resident
phoned police to report that she was just involved in a single vehicle accident with her 1996 Chevrolet pickup. The driver was heading northbound on Hwy 97 near Gallagher Lake when she lost control of her vehicle due to the slippery road conditions. The vehicle slid off the east side of the road and struck a utility pole. The pole was cracked and will eventually need to be replaced. Driver sustained minor injuries but was not transported to hospital. Neither speed not alcohol were factors in this occurrence.
On 2011-11-19 at 7:20 – an Oliver resident was south bound on 97th St., south of 332nd Ave, when she hit black ice and went off road to the right. The vehicle struck a ditch and rolled once coming to rest beside a utility pole. The 49 year old driver was transported to South Okanagan General Hospital with minor injuries. Neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be a factor. Road was icy on the traveled portion and all local roads were in the process of being treated for icy condition by local road crews.
On 2011-11-20 at 23:04 an Oliver resident called the RCMP to
report a hit and run accident at the intersection of 364th Ave and 99th Street in Oliver. Police attended and confirmed that a fire hydrant had been knocked over. Tire tracks in the snow indicate a transport truck and trailer attempted to turn around and hit the fire hydrant breaking it off. Water ran down 364th onto Hwy 97 turning into ice. RCMP is interested in speaking with the driver of the vehicle or witnesses to this incident.
