T.E.N. PAC and SOSS present the always-popular Missoula Children’s Theatre featuring 50 to 60 local students from grades K to 12 in an entertaining and inventive story, “The Wiz of the West” at Oliver Alliance Church next weekend. Sure to entertain, The Wiz of the West, is an original musical production that tells the familiar tale of the Wizard of Oz, but with a bit of a twist…or shall we say a twister?
Follow Tinhorn, Lionel, Scared Crow, Dotty and, of course, her little dog Mooch through a saga of Western adventure and personal discovery. First they tangle with Mad Dog’s gang of bad, barkin’, back-bitin’ hounds who work for the meanest old witch in the West, Hawknose Halley. Then they encounter the brainless Buzzards and the terrifying Tarantulas. The singin’ Coyotes help move things along while Ma and Pa Munch and the rest of the Munch Kins point out the way to Dr. Ozzy, the Wizard of Frontier Medicine. Which way is that? Why Westward, ‘o course!
“This is our fifth season hosting MCT” says organizer Cathy Gale. Every year I am truly amazed at how the MCT Team, two tour actor/directors, roll into town in the ‘little red truck’ and take on the task of staging a full-scale musical in just five days.
Through this unique educational project our youth learn lines, cues, songs and choreography along with some important life skills such as commitment, confidence, teamwork, trust and acceptance during the residency week.
There are students who were cast in our first production who are now in grade 12 that can’t wait to be involved again this year.” says Gale, the T.E.N. PAC Missoula Chair and organizer.

This production is perfect for children ages five and up and runs approximately 1 hour with no intermission.
