1. Canal Rights of Way – Council approved renewal of 1998 license of use for five farm property owners near canal between Rd. 16 and 18 for deer fences at a price of $63.85 per year.
2. Oliver Business Association – Council asked staff to review sign bylaw re sandwich boards and large reader boards and bring back costs of directional signage similar to Osoyoos Main St. area
3. Tree Inventory – Comprehensive tree inventory now complete – outlining 1.74 million dollar inventory of trees, conditions and needs. 89 species identified – 27 trees to be removed due to health
4. Chora Application – Council approved removal of one large maple tree at home of Ken Chora for the purpose of installing driveway. Owner to pay cost of removal and installation of new street boulevard tree
5. Cemetery Beautification – Council approved 2012 budget expenditures from Cemetery Development Fund of $8000 and $10,000 from general operating budget for grave marker base improvements in the Sumac and Veterans Sections of the Oliver Cemetery
6. Gas Tax Credits – Council recommended to Municipal Director (RDOS) that efforts to get funding for a new well (Buchanan) and a well analysis to be promoted as Oliver’s top priority in discussions Thursday at the Regional District. $4.2 million dollars is up for grabs and a long list of projects have not been decided upon. The two water projects cover service to homes in the regional district as well as providing water security for the entire Oliver water utility
7. Rikhi Development Corp – permission granted to create 5 new low density building lots in the Tucelnuit Lake area – south of Fortis Right of way at 472 Merlot Avenue (370th)
8. Regional Context Statement – Oliver’s part of the regional growth strategy approved previously by RDOS now passed into law
9. Zoning Amendment – Council has taken the first steps to prohibit asphalt mixing plants and gravel crushing inside town limits. Public Hearing set for November 28th
10. Youth Services – review of ongoing discussion between Okanagan Boys and Girls Club and Oliver Parks and Recreation. No agreement yet.
11. Communities in Bloom – time extension granted for presentation in two weeks
12. Building Permits – Total value of construction YTD $8 million including extension to Strobbe’s Car Wash with permit taken out in October
13. Sidewalk request – Letter written to Oliver Women’s Institute re sidewalk desired for Okanagan Avenue and safety at (101st and 346th)
14. Support of Desert Sun Counselling’s Community Grant application approved
15. School Liaison – Councillor Jack Bennest appointed as Town Liaison with Supporting SOSS Committee (November 22nd)
16. Fortis rates – staff to report on standardized rates in all of the province
