Ministry of the Environent on the scene at the Vaseux Lake corner to ensure the lake is safe after a tractor-trailer spilled a load of baled peat moss. Bill Michaels of the Ministry says hay is being used to soak up some diesel but there is no need to worry about the bales. Some are floating nearby and at least 1 has drifted to the north of the lake. Michaels says his main concern is to ensure the bales do not enter the river system.
RCMP have yet to issue a report on the accident or the condition of the driver. The accident occurred Thursday mid-afternoon.
