The 2011 Oliver Scareview Hallowe’en Carnival will take place at the Oliver Community Centre on Monday Oct 31 from 6-8pm. Families are encouraged to come down and try out the carnival-style games, see a special performance from hip hop sensation Jake Evans and check out the creepy critters traveling with “The Reptile Guy” Mike Hopcraft who is making a special stop in
Oliver that night. Another exciting development for this year’s event is the LINK Crew from SOSS transforming the Oliver Pool into a Haunted House for brave souls to visit if they dare.
“We have some cool new game booths to add to the old favourites this year”, says event coordinator Carol Sheridan. “Blacklight Bowling will be lots of fun, as well as other new games like Plinko and Goblin Golf.” Children can make the rounds and choose which games to play. “Boo Bucks” will be given out by volunteers at game booths that will be traded in at the CIBC Boo Bank for bags of treats. There will also be a self-serve Pumpkin Patch Photo Booth and colouring/craft station.
“Having the live stage entertainment and reptile show will really add to the overall event,”says Sheridan, “but what really makes it special is seeing all the children dressed up and families playing together”. Scareview is a wonderful and safe alternative to (or addition to) trick-or-treating around town.
Admission to Scareview is free to children 11 years and under, $2 for youth/adults 12 years and up. Children 9 years and under must be accompanied by an adult. Entrance to the SOSS Haunted House is by donation.
Volunteers interested in assisting with setting up the hall or being a part of the carnival on Oct 31st should Carol Sheridan before Friday, Oct 28.
