Monday mid-day incident with distraught male in Okanagan Falls ends peacefully. The Penticton RCMP assisted by a team of critical incident negotiators de-escalated the situation, with a  46 yr old Okanagan man taken into custody and transported to hospital for assessment mid evening on Monday.

 

At approx 1600 hrs on Monday October 24th 2011, the Penticton RCMP responded to a report of a distraught male threatening harm to himself at an OK Falls residence.  Uniform and plain clothes RCMP officers attended to the Maple Ave residence securing the area.  A team of critical incident negotiators were also engaged to assist.

 

RCMP officers and negotiators dialogued with the man throughout the evening until shortly after 9:15 pm, when the man agreed to exit the residence and was transported to the local hospital for medical assessment.

 

The investigation is ongoing, investigators confirmed that the man was alone in the residence throughout the ordeal.
