Sunday – We (two teenagers and I) had walked south (on west side of river) from the drop structure by Riverside Greenhouses down to the next one, crossed over and headed back (north) on the other side. There are two paths… one is suitable for a vehicle – one is lower down and not quite as wide… I chose the lower path.. approx a half km from the drop structure I noticed something fuzzy lying on the bank from the upper road and almost all the way down to the lower road – I thought at first it was a very large stuffed animal that had had the stuffing pulled out of it, I quickly realized that it was an actual animal – concerned it may have been killed by a bear or cougar and having 2 kids with me I didn’t want to hang around in case whatever killed it was nearby.
We went back up to the upper road and there was another one directly opposite to the other on the right side of the road. We then identified them as llamas or alpacas??
Noticed the legs had been cut off?? I don’t know that an animal would do that. One of the kids noticed that there was no blood around them as there may have been if they had been killed there and they thought there was a third one there as well.
