Meeting held this week – board members approved a provisional budget for 2012 with an increase in taxes of 1.09 percent. The budget will be forwarded to the regional district for ratification during budget discussions in the new year. Here are some of the facts.
Rural residents would be asked to pay $375,815, Town of Oliver $540,811 and user fees $411,876.
Reserves are projected to stand at $707,773 at the end of 2012. The Society earns about $22,000 on its investments each year. The Society is committed to saving 5% of its total budget each budget to fund the replacement of tangible capital assets.
The Oliver Parks and Recreation Society plans on spending $71000 in the next fiscal year on capital items including the replacement of a de-humidifer on the arena roof and the resurfacing of tennis courts.
