Born and raised and in Oliver, my wife Tracy and I moved back to Oliver in 1996, to work in our longstanding family business, Gerard’s Equipment.
Being a life-long resident of Oliver, I have tried to stay involved within the community. Whether it is coaching minor soccer, minor hockey or working with various community groups, I have always tried to make a contribution to the area. We have a child in the school system, and I -feel that it is time for me to run for School Trustee.
I believe that nothing is more important than the opportunities that we can give our children, and many of those opportunities originate in our schools. This is where the School Trustee enters into the equation. We need people who are able to listen to all stakeholders and bring their concerns forward. We must have people who are able to make decisions which are in the best interests of all of our children throughout the district and we must have people who are comfortable with dealing with all levels of government and getting results. I strongly believe that these are skills that I can bring to the board.
We need to have better public input to the board on various issues and we need to have better communication to the parents and the communities of the district. I look forward to working with the other board members in these directions and to making a positive impact for our children.
