Tracy Hunt moved to Oliver 5 years ago, bringing with her 3 small daughters, her husband Steve and a wealth of knowledge in the Early Childhood Education field.
After a year of settling in, Tracy took a position with Penticton District Community Resources Society as the Co-ordinator for the South Okanagan. Tracy is thrilled with the new programs that PDCRS is offering this year. Further to the 2 preschool programs, one in Oliver at Tuc-el-Nuit Elementary and the other in Osoyoos at Osoyoos Elementary, she is excited to offer a full time day care program at TEN.
Fully involved with her daughter’s education with added bonus of working that the school her daughters (Larissa – Grade 6, Dayna – Grad 3, and Erika – Kindergarten) attend, Tracy is amply aware of the workings and goings on in the schools.
When there was a the threat of school closure at TEN, Tracy jumped into co-heading the Save Our Schools campaign, delving into research on how the District and School Board could effectively continue to run the school. Tracy was instrumental in keeping TEN school open and running. It was during this campaign that Tracy tossed over the idea of running for School Board Trustee. Tracy saw the need for a more active representation from the School Board Trustees. Should she be elected, she will strive to actively listen to parent’s needs and concerns and act on their behalf in the position of Trustee. She will also endeavor to make herself available to parents, knowing that it is them that she represents.
Beyond her duties as mother and manager, Tracy is active in the community as a Scout leader with 1st Oliver Scouts, is a foster parent and attends the PAC meetings at TEN regularly.
With the support of her family and friends, Tracy is looking forward to running in the election for School Board Trustee. If you have any questions or would like to know more of Tracy and her outlook, please email her at tracyhuntsos@gmail.com
