Today is the first day of nominations for local politics in the community of Oliver including 2 positions for school trustee, one rural director (RDOS), four regular town councillors, two water councillors and one Mayor.
So far only a few people have announced to the public their intentions – the rest still a mystery. Town staff say 7 election packages have been distributed.
Voter turnout should be high this year with a road referendum and a Mayor’s race with experienced politicians going head to head for that chair.
So what will it be? – are you running for any office?
See Town staff in Oliver and they will direct you through the process that ends Friday October 14.
Look for signs after that date unless someone jumps the gun. Any person who wants publicity – you can make an announcement on ODN for free. All registered candidates after the 14th will be asked to submit a full page of information on themselves complete with picture.
Oliver Daily News will carry NO election advertising and stories with comments from candidates will be restricted to valid stories of regional importance.
