The lounge in the Oliver Curling Centre was a busy place Friday, September 23rd. Returning members and many new curlers gathered to sign up for the league of their choice.
The curling begins October 17th and this season the choices have been expanded to include many varied leagues.
Monday evenings a new corporate league will be started this year. Groups and businesses are invited to enter teams for some relaxing fun outside the work environment.
Tuesday evenings the ladies hit the ice for some good curling.
Wednesday evening is reserved for the mixed league. Couples and singles or foursomes are invited to sign up and teams will be formed for a great social time.
Thursday evening is men’s night. Team and individual entries are invited.
Friday evening will see the introduction of a stick league consisting of 2 curlers per team and optional limited sweeping. When your hips, knees or back don’t allow you to crouch in the hack anymore, this is a great way to continue to participate in this great sport.
The game takes about one hour and will take place prior to the Friday evening mixed fun league established a few years ago for new curlers.
Monday and Wednesday, the day league has been split into three 7-week sessions to accommodate those who head south for part of the season. Tuesday and possibly Thursday afternoons see the juniors from our community on the ice learning and playing the game.
Registration for this program is scheduled for Tuesday, October 11th.
Several members of the Oliver Curling Centre have received instruction in coaching and will be offering clinics on October 15th to introduce the game and October 23rd to improve curling skills. If you were unable to attend the formal registration night, please forward your registration form to
