The 2010 Rumble in the Valley event brought 96 cars to the Richter Pass Motorplex just west of Osoyoos. The second annual event is scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday October 2nd) and will bring drivers from Kelowna, Penticton, and all over the South Okanagan.
OSOYOOS – Shine it up, rev it up, and take home the glory – it’s Rumble in the Valley time once again in the South Okanagan.
Members from the Kelowna Kustoms Car Club, the Okanagan Rodtiques from Penticton and Oliver’s Coach Masters car club will be cruising into Osoyoos’ drag racing strip on Sun., Oct. 2 to grudge it out all over again.
The Wine Country Racing Association (WCRA) is hosting the Okanagan Car Club Challenge for the second year, at its last drag race of the season, and drivers from all three clubs are getting revved up for the challenge.
The event, now into its second year, lets the owners of custom and restored automobiles – most of them classics – bring their vehicles down to test their performance on the drag strip, alongside other enthusiasts.
At the 2010 race, Rodtiques champion Kevin Davis raced away with the bragging rights in his red, 1966 Ford pickup truck. Whether you come out to see the Challenge or to cheer on a seasoned favorite, the afternoon will prove to be eventful. The 2010 event boasted a stunning 96 race cars.
New drivers, don’t forget to head out to the track early to have your car passed through technical inspection – it’s only $25 to participate in the day’s worth of racing.
Gates are scheduled to open at 9 a.m. at Richter Pass Motorplex, which is housed at the Osoyoos airport. Qualifying races start around 11 a.m. and the main elimination event begins at 1 p.m.
