As of Monday, September 26, Southern Okanagan Secondary School will be up and running with all classes from grades 8 – 12 (with the exception of one grade 8 elective, IT8). At this point, only 3 of the portables are ready, so some of the classes will be held in temporary locations for the week.
By Monday, October 3 all portables will be ready so we will have a small series of room switches to utilize all available space.
As of Monday, September 26, all students are expected to begin school at 8:30 am and attend classes to 2:45 pm. The only exception will be the grade 8 students in IT8. As this class runs last block next week, parents can either arrange to pick up students or have them walk home. Bus students will have to stay, but we can accommodate them on the field to the south of the portables – there are some picnic tables there so students can do homework. The noon bus will not run any more as it is not necessary.
We have distributed the new timetable to students who attended the Catholic church today. The timetable is available on the SOSS, SD53 (see below) and Facebook pages. We will have extra staff Monday morning to direct students.
We appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility while we move through this challenging experience and are very excited to have all students back with us in classes!
