Come along with the Oliver and District Heritage
Society and the Oliver Branch of the Okanagan Historical Society on a field
trip to Oliver’s Balancing Rock.
You are invited to join Dr. Murray Roed, retired geological and engineering consultant, author of several books, and accomplished artist on a field trip to the “Balancing Rock” located at the 13 km mark upMcKinney Road.
Roed has a PhD degree in Geology and a Master of Arts degree. Roed has recently published his second book on geology: Okanagan Geology South, Geologic Highlights of the South Okanagan, British Columbia, which we will have available for sale—a great opportunity to get a signed copy.
Although this particular geologic feature is not included in Okanagan Geology South you will have the unique opportunity to enjoy Roed’s interpretation first-hand based on his examination and evaluation of the site.
Anyone wishing to participate is asked to meet at the Oliver Community Centre parking lot at 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 25. Participants need to provide their own transportation from the community centre.
There is no charge to take part in this event. For more information, please call Lynn Alaric, ODHS Archivist at (250) 498-4027 or Larry Shannon OHS Oliver-Osoyoos Branch President at (250) 498-2452.
