Hunter Miller’s world changed dramatically for himself and his family shortly after his 12th birthday. The Oliver youngster was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and is currently being treated at BC Children’s Hospital. Hunter was just about to start his final year at Oliver Elementary School (Grade 7) and his second year of Peewee hockey with South Okanagan Minor Hockey. His parents, Jeff and Denise, as well as little brother Blake are currently staying with him in Vancouver.
The family is well known in the community having lived in Oliver most of their lives. A Facebook group has been set up, dubbed “Team Hunter,” to enable the family to keep those back at home updated as well as a place where well-wishers can post words of support. A few fundraisers have popped up as well, to help the family cope with the added costs of living away from home at this difficult time. OES students have decided to donate the “Terry Fox” money they usually collect at this time of year to the family. A “I support Team Hunter” button fundraiser has also been put in to place. The buttons will be $5 each and will be available TODAY for purchase at various Oliver businesses including, OK Tire, Beyond Bliss Esthetics and Sears. Be sure to purchase yours to show your support for the Miller family.
