Volunteers from various community groups hope to collect enough food to replenish the Oliver Food Bank with non-perishable food items. Donation bags have been distributed to various homes in Oliver. Simply fill it generously with non-perishable items (like canned meat/fish, canned fruit/vegetables, peanut butter, baby formula/baby food, rice, whole wheat pasta and sauce) and leave it on your doorstep. All contributions will be collected on Saturday, September 17th beginning at 9:30 a.m., and then delivered to the food Bank. “No delivered bag? No problem!” says organizers. “Volunteers will happily take donations at the Oliver Food Bank. To arrange a pick up call (250) 498-4555. With the help of friends and neighbours in our community, we can stock the food bank shelves just in time for Thanksgiving”, organizers add.
