13 year old Brittany, currently at St. Paul’s Hospital, is set to be released into her’s mother’s care within 10-14 days after receiving a mechanical heart (VAD).

This procedure that could not be done at Children’s Hospital was completed in the last week. Brittany is now awake after being in an induced coma. She is starting to eat and gain strength.

Her next steps are training sessions for about two weeks before going to Ronald McDonald house with her mother. Once the family is trained and comfortable with the situation – Shawna and Brittany can come home to Oliver.

Brittany and her doctors are still waiting for a heart to become available but all concerned believe Brittany will do better and gain strength at home.
