A Tribute to S.O.S.S. 1948-2011
I keep my memories in a box
And when I open the lid
the memories rush out
All the things that we did
The life that we knew
The blood, sweat and tears
Has echoed through hallways
For a good many years
The laughter, the angst
Of us “coming of age-ers”
The hours that were spent
Turning over new pages
We shared teachers and secrets
And tried to stand proud
Ever pushing the limits
Of what was “allowed”
Generations lived there
Our parents, our kids
Ever proud to attend
The same school “they” did
The friends that we made
Some are here, some are gone
(In their name, roses planted)
And then we moved on
After many years passed
Today we returned
And with lumps in our throats
We watched our school burn
But look what it taught us
Lessons from the past:
Though the structure’s not standing
The memories will last
For our children’s children
Will never forget
S.O.S.S.
We’re not done with you yet!
We’ll all pull together
To build a new home
And in those bright hallways
New memories will roam
The legacy will carry
A new generation
That’s proud of its roots
And proud of its nation.
