It’s a bad dream. A shock to the system. It is unbelievable but our old high school is now gutted by fire. (3:15 am) Phone call wakes me and says school on fire.

The newly renovated SOSS is ablaze with fire trucks everywhere –  attempting to save it but the inferno is too much and it is now a matter of control. Because of the nature of its location it is unlikely the fire can spread to the neighbourhood. The fire seems to be concentrated in the east wing and admin areas (old gym). More later. The light conditions are not good for quality pictures.

Police have cordoned off the area – the public is urged to keep your distance. The building is fully engaged. The fire started between 2 and 3 a.m. A huge pillar of fire and smoke can be seen for miles.
