There was a lot of emotion at the high school overnight and this morning. Much of it was stunned silence.
Memories. One word statements and answers like: sad, devastating, terrible, loss. I talked to a number of retired teachers – who had some difficulty expressing how they felt.
Long term teachers at SOSS had vested a large part of their lives in that school. I really feel bad about that – because the school is gone.
A lot of thinking, assessing and planning is now needed. I hope those with the power – involve the community – in finding answers to perplexing questions.
I only spent 6 years in that building but it has been part of my life since 1953 when I moved to Oliver.
I can only pray that we have the wisdom to pay the price to honour the memories of so many people who have passed through those “hallowed halls”.
