November 19th is not only municipal election day for the Town but there will also be a very important referendum asking you, our taxpayers, for permission to borrow $2.4 million to improve our roads. Typically the Town keeps a close watch on the condition of our roads so that drivers do not have to negotiate pot holes and broken shoulders. There is nothing more ugly than crumbling roads in an otherwise pleasant residential neighborhood. We spend about four hundred thousand dollars each year on overall road maintenance but we have reached a point where surface breakdown is occurring faster than we can complete repairs and in addition there are major projects which have been part of our priority plan to create safe and attractive transportation routes.
With your approval for borrowing, we want to totally reconstruct 350th avenue from 97th Street to 103rd Street; this will include; new curb & sidewalks, new road design with medians and some utility re locations. The other projects on the referendum list are; 350th (curb, gutter and sidewalk from 107th Street to 119th street) & the outstanding project of paving the gravel path on the eastside of the river dyke (from 350th bridge to drop structure 13 north) to make it easier for people in electric scooters to access both sides of the river channel for outings and going to Town to shop.
