Brittany will be transfered to St. Paul’s Hospital on Monday if no heart becomes available over the weekend. She has been having to0 many skipped beats and will need the VAD machine (mechanical heart).
This connection will take place on Wednesday at Brittany’s request. At St. Paul’s they are the only ones that can do this procedure. Staff at Children’s Hospital not trained to monitor this type of equipment. It is everyone’s hope that Brittany will be back and healthy in Children’s Hospital in two weeks.
After the procedure it will take 4 hours and they promised she will have alot more energy after that!

Patients who have some remaining heart function but who can no longer live normally may be candidates for ventricular assist devices (VAD), which do not replace the human heart but complement it by taking up much of the function.
