What do you get when you take some furry four-legged animals, add some games, costumes, crafts, some green space to play and some water to splash around in? You get a new exciting dog-friendly event at the Oliver Community Park called “Bark in the Park”!
“Bark in the Park” is Oliver’s newest summer event that will both celebrate dogs and pet services as well as raise funds needed for the BCSPCA to support local programs in the South Okanagan. $2 admission allows participants a chance to enjoy live musical entertainment from Doreen Johnson, take in an exciting dog agility demonstration from Desert Dogs Agility Club and check out the costumed canines in the Doggie Fashion Show. Fashion show entries welcomed, owners can enter their dog into the show on the day of the event. There will be raffle draws, a craft station including collar decorating and paw print keepsakes as well as a self-serve photo booth. The BCSPCA will be on site with their mascot and Humane Education information tent and participants can visit with local pet experts and vendors.
A by-donation BBQ lunch of smokies and drinks provided by Buy-Low Foods will be offered between 1-3pm to hopefully add to the funds raised for the BCSPCA. Immediately following the event in the park there will be the annual Doggie Swim at the Oliver Pool from 4-5pm.
